"Its All About The Sun"
ARTICLES 2

I.  Simply Put…

Me! Me! ME! It’s all about the Sun. If you were to listen to the Sun you would think all the planets revolve around it! Well, it is all
about the Sun because without the Sun there would be nothing else. All of the other planets and their archetypes are just the
means in which the Sun expresses itself. For example, the Sun expresses emotion through the Moon, speaks and thinks through
Mercury, and acts through Mars. The Sun in a way is a master puppeteer.

The Sun represents the self, the ego, who you are. Not how you feel, not how you act, nor what you say. These are all
“expressions” of the Sun. You are who you are, not what you say and do. Logically, you say and do many things, how could one
person be all of that?

Symbolically Speaking…
The Sun is the primary force, the beginning. The symbol or glyph for the Sun, shown here    , is a circle with a dot in the middle;
the whole, the void, occupied by the essence. From nothing emerges a point of light. Think about this symbol, we are at the center
of the world and we radiate outwards. Can you see the similarity between the Sun symbol and the horoscope chart? The chart is a
circle that represents the heavens with the Earth (people in their physical manifestation) at the center radiating its expression
outwards through the symbols of the planets, houses, and signs.

Sun sign astrology has its limitations. While everything emanates from the Sun, here on the Earth, the other planets and points
become relevant influences. Even as messengers for the Sun they bring their own symbols and issues along for the ride.  A
preponderance of planets or points in a sign or signs other than the Sun sign can make one seem like they are not really the Sun
sign they are.  But rest assured the inner nature if repressed is trying to make its way out.

II.  Technically Speaking…

The sign the Sun is in represents your basic energy or makeup. This determines if you are set in your ways (like a Taurus) or
changeable (like a Pisces) or adventurous (like a Sagittarius). You may be stubborn or fixed in your ways by nature but actually in
practice you are a person that goes with the flow.  How you are (the Sun) and how you act (the Ascendant) are not the same and
are not always in sync. If the signs work well together the Sun has an easier time of showing its face. If they conflict it will be more
of a struggle for the Sun.

The house the Sun is in will determine the area of your life where you are most focused, where your essence resonates the best.
The house can provide the setting for the lessons you need to learn and teach. For example a fourth house Sun will generally
gravitate towards the home, a tenth house Sun would find themselves more career or status oriented. If the Sun was in the same
sign but a different house, the basic energy is the same, just applied in a different area of life. However, keep in mind there are
many other factors to the chart that can totally divert your energies in a different direction. It doesn’t make you less of a Cancer
(normally centered on the family) if you have lots of Capricorn (more inclined to a career away from the home). It just makes it
more difficult for you to express your Cancer nature to your satisfaction.

The following are generalizations that are often colored or overshadowed by other chart factors. They remain true but not always
apparent or applied as may be expected. In addition there are hundreds of keywords and associations to each house, sign and
planet so I chose those most familiar and insightful given the space. It’s sometimes difficult to tell the difference between the
planetary influence and the influences of the signs and houses. As you read the following descriptions you will see similarities
between the descriptions for these.  The planet is the energy. The sign colors the energy. The house identifies where in life the
energy will manifest.

III.  In Conclusion

Ask anyone who has tried to change themselves and if they are honest they will tell you that you can’t really change who you are.
What you can change is what you do with it. We all have many potentials and our Sun also gives us the free will to pick and
choose which paths we want to follow. There are choices available. We can move, thereby changing the house the Sun is in.  If
you are there long enough your life will start to take on the characteristics of that house's influences. You wont lose what you
started with, you will add and adapt. Alternatively, We can look at other area's of the chart and direct the Sun's attention there
instead. We can also bring other influences into our lives that can bring a balance or ease the job of the Sun. It's your Sun and it's
all about you!

The Progressed Sun
Progression is an astrological technique used to age a chart to a specific time in the future in order to look at it from a
developmental and growth oriented viewpoint. It is a view of how you are “Progressing” through life. No wonder the main planet we
look at this way is the Sun. There are several methods but the essence is to equate a specific length of time, for example one day,
with another length of time, for example, one year. Therefore, if you advance one day, you are looking forward one year.  If you
look at the chart for 30 days after you were born that chart would represent the 30th year of your life. I know, pretty wild huh! But it
does work. Applied to the Sun, if you were born with your Sun at 10 degrees Aries, at the age of 20 your progressed Sun would
be entering into Taurus for the next 30 years of your life. You are still an Aries yet at this point you start to be able to see and
accept the considerations of the Taurus point of view. If you know your Sun’s degree look back at the above lists and see if you
can understand why some of them might not be as relevant as they used to be and why some seemed to fit when they shouldn’t
have. A thumbnail way of telling the Sun’s position is the Sun enters a sign around the 23rd of the month now. Use the 20th for 20
years ago. Use the 18th for 40 years ago. Now count forward!
